Numerous religious symbols all linked togetherReligion & Spirituality generally includes a set of beliefs or practices that contributes to the diverse identity of an individual or community. The purpose of this guide is to help users become familiar with the intersection of a patient's spiritual identity and medicine. It is important to explore because it can directly effect the patient's medical decisions and desired approach to care. As a reference, the World Christian Database (2010) identifies and follows 18 major religious categories:
