Asian / Pacific Islander is a term to describe the diverse group of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. This broad term encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. This term also includes Native Hawaiians. Other terms that may be used such as AAPI (Asian America Pacific Islander) and some use Asian American and Pacific Islander/Native Hawaiian as two separate terms to distinguish culturally and ethnically different groups.
