iThenticate

Description and educational content for the use of iThenticate on UNTHSC's campus.

Q. After I receive access, how do I submit a document?

A: There are a variety of ways to submit a document: Upload a single file, upload a compressed zip file (may contain up to 1000 files, or 100MB), or Cut & Paste text. For complete instructions, visit our help pages.

Q. What are the document submission requirements?

A: There are several.

  • The file may not exceed 800 pages.
  • The file size may not exceed 100 MB.
  • The word count of one submission should not exceed 25,000 words.
  • Files of larger size may be reduced in size by removal of non-text content.
  • Files that are password protected, encrypted, hidden, system files, or read only files cannot be uploaded or submitted to iThenticate.
  • The zip file upload accepts up to 1000 files or 200MB of zipped information.
  • A zip file to be uploaded may not exceed either limit.
  • Zip files should be checked to ensure only usable file formats are included in the upload.

Q. Can I delete my submissions from iThenticate?

A: Yes. You may delete your submissions from your account at any time. Deleted submissions will be moved to your Trash folder and permanently removed from the iThenticate database once you click "Delete" in your Trash folder.

Q. What is the maximum size of a document?

A: A single credit can be used to upload a file up to 25,000 words in length, which accommodates the average length of a research paper. If your document is longer, you can purchase multiple credits. If using the zip file upload method, all files contained in a zip file are extracted and uploaded one by one. Each one will be considered a separate upload and will use up a single credit even if the 25,000 words are not fully used, the remaining words do not roll over.
