Faculty Resources

Find out how the library can help support your teaching and research. Explore resources and services to make your academic life a little easier!

Resources to Support Your Students

Many students don’t know about the library resources and academic support services available to them. Make sure to share this information with your students, add helpful links to your Canvas course, and encourage them to ask for help when they need it.

Research Help:

  • Ask a Librarian: You and your students can get quick help by chat, email, or in person.
  • Request a Consultation: Encourage students to reach out to their liaison librarian for personalized research help. Librarians can guide them on how to search, suggest useful resources, and help find materials for assignments.
  • Research and Course guides: Students can use step-by-step guides for everything from finding and evaluating sources to citing them correctly. You can also add these guides to your Canvas course. We create special guides for courses when faculty ask, and these are linked automatically in Canvas.

Spaces and Technology

Library Access & Study Areas

The library is open 24/7 with your student ID, so you can study anytime. You’ll find models and other study tools available for checkout whenever the library is open. We have quiet areas for focused study and spaces for group work. You can also reserve private study rooms through the HSC Event Management System.

Technology & Equipment

We offer technology for student use, including laptops to borrow, hotspots for internet access, and power packs to charge your devices on the go. We even provide special equipment like an ultrasound machine and an orthoscope.

Center for Academic Performance (CAP)

The Center for Academic Performance (CAP) helps all HSC students succeed academically, whether on campus or online. Although it is not part of the library, CAP offers many useful services to support your learning.

Key services include:

  • Academic support: Personalized consultations and workshops to improve study skills.

  • Tutoring: One-on-one, small group, and drop-in tutoring tailored to graduate and professional students.

  • Writing help: Feedback on writing, focusing on organization, clarity, and style—available in person or online.

You can schedule appointments virtually or in person. For special hours, contact CAP at CAP@unthsc.edu.

For more info or to book a session, visit the CAP website.
