HSC Fort Worth Data Repository

Step 1: Log in to the HSC Fort Worth Data Repository

  1. Go to the HSC Fort Worth Data Repository home page at https://dataverse.tdl.org/dataverse/unthsc and click the “Log In” link in the upper right corner. 
  2. Select University of North Texas Health Science Center from the “Your Institution” drop-down menu and click “Continue.” 
  3. If prompted, enter your HSC email address, click “Next” and complete the authentication process. 
  4. If it is your first-time logging into the system, you will be asked to review and agree to the Texas Data Repository Terms of Use. 

Step 2: Deposit a new Dataset

  1. Be sure you are logged in to the HSC Fort Worth Data Repository. If you’re unsure of whether you’re in the correct repository, look at the upper left-hand area of the page. It should say “HSC Fort Worth Data Repository” and the HSC logo should appear.
  2. If you need assistance establishing a logical structure for your Dataset(s), contact DataRepository@unthsc.edu.
  3. If you are ready to begin, click the “Add Data” button on the right side of the screen and select “New Dataset” from the drop-down menu.

  5. Verify that HSC Fort Worth Data Repository is the Host Dataverse before continuing.

  7. Describe your dataset by adding basic metadata. At minimum, complete the required metadata fields, marked by a red asterisk: Title, Author(s), Contact(s), Description, Subject, Production Date, Production Place, and Kind of Data. Adding Related Publication information, such as a Citation and DOI of the related publication is strongly encouraged, as are Author Identifier Type and Identifier.
  8. For more information on a particular field, hover over the question mark near the field name. You can add more metadata after you save your dataset. For detailed instructions on describing your dataset, please download the Dataset Description Cheat Sheet or contact DataRepository@unthsc.edu for assistance.

  10. Once you have completed all the required and recommended fields, click the "+ Select Files to Add" button to add files to your Dataset.

  12. Once you have added your files and completed all required fields, click "Save Dataset." Your Dataset will now appear as an unpublished draft.

Step 3: Describe your Dataset and submit for review

  1. Now that you have completed basic metadata and uploaded your files, it is important to add more information about your dataset. Click the "Edit Dataset" button and select "Metadata." At minimum, try to add the Language, Funding Information (Agency and Identifier), Date of Collection (Start and End Date) and Software (Name and Version).For more information on a particular field, hover over the question mark near the field name.   2. Edit Metadata
  3. You can also edit your files and terms (license) by selecting those options from the Edit Dataset menu. The default license on Datasets is CC0, and information about this may be found at Texas Digital Library Licensing and Permissions.
  4. When your Dataset is complete, click the "Submit for Review" button to notify repository administration to review and publish your Dataset.
